Hello Sportacus!
Sportacus is, in his own words, Lazy Town's 'slightly above average hero'. A fit and agile acrobat with lightning fast style, he's always moving, flipping and somersaulting through the air and landing with flamboyant nonchalance. Why walk across the room when you can sprint across it, vault the coffee table into a somersault and then finish the manoeuvre on a skateboard? As you can probably guess, his motto is "why be ordinary when you can do something with flair?". He never stays still for more than a moment and does exhilirating gymnastics to get from one place to another. One Lazy Town episode sees Stephanie encouraging Sportacus to have a holiday, but..... it's difficult! He spends much of his time exercising (for example doing situps) and preparing healthy meals.
As well as encouraging the kids of Lazy Town to eat 'Sports Candy' (fruit and vegetables) so that they can be healthy, fit and happy, Sportacus is always saving people from emergencies. Whereas Batman has his bat phone, Sportacus has his crystal that beeps and flahes whenever someone is in trouble (even Robbie Rotten, Lazy Town's villain). However, sugar is like Superman's kryptonite - it makes him weak and sluggish. When he eats it he has a sugar meltdown. Sportacus lives in an incredibly futuristic airship that floats above Lazy Town and he flies between the two in his pedal powered "skutla".
Sportacus replaced Lazy Town's previous super hero who had a big 9 on his chest - he is referred to but never seen. Stephanie had sent a message to Number 9 but Sportacus received it instead and came to Lazy Town. When Sportacus is in his airship, the people of Lazy Town can communicate with him using a pneumatic launcher next to the mailbox.
He's patient, kind and understanding and sets a good example for people to follow.
Lazy Town was created by Magnus Scheving (a gymnastics champion) who also stars in the show. The name Sportacus is a reference to the famous slave-gladiator Spartacus who lived in ancient Rome. He speaks English and Icelandic.
